Mahjong Explorers June
Mahjong Explorers Camp
Our Mahjong Social Learning Groups combine strategy, executive functioning, problem solving, and social communication in a fun, engaging small-group environment led by a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Mahjong is much more than a game. It naturally supports the development of higher-level thinking, flexible problem solving, emotional regulation, attention, and peer interaction skills while providing structured, screen-free social engagement.
Students will learn Mahjong through guided instruction, therapist-supported gameplay, collaborative activities, and strategy coaching in a supportive and low-pressure environment.
No prior Mahjong experience is needed.
Skills Targeted Through Mahjong
Students participating in Mahjong groups will strengthen:
executive functioning
planning and organization
sustained attention
working memory
flexible thinking
problem solving
strategy development
emotional regulation
frustration tolerance
turn taking
social communication
conversation skills
confidence in peer interaction
sportsmanship
perspective taking
Because Mahjong requires students to think ahead, adapt strategies, observe patterns, regulate emotions, and interact socially, it is an excellent activity for building real-world cognitive and communication skills.
